To get to Green Thumb Floral Shop from her house, Jody must walk 7 blocks east and then 4 blocks south.  What is the actual distance between Jody's house and the floral shop?

i dont think this post belongs here but anyways..

do you know what the pythagorean Theorem is?

it only works for right triangle

the forumla is A^2 + B^2 = C^2

A and B are the sides of the triangle

C is the hypotenuse, longest side of the triangle

if you map out how jody walks. 7 east and 4 south and then draw the distance between jody house and shop (hypotenuse). you have a right triangle, which you can use the pythagorean thorem..

7^2 + 4^2 = C^2

49 + 16 = C^2

65=C^2

\sqrt{65} = C
